The Challenge

Rival Hunts approached Big Boy Digital with no prior experience in building a website. As farmers, they were unfamiliar and unconfident in navigating the online world but recognised the need for a website to market their New Zealand hunting expeditions to North American hunters. Their existing brand, South Canterbury Hunting Adventures, was outdated and ineffective in appealing to their target audience.

We started with an investigative workshop to understand North American hunter behaviour and their decision-making triggers for booking a New Zealand hunting expedition. Key actions included:


  • Branding: Renaming the company to Rival Hunts and creating a stunning new logo designed by Klaris.
  • Market Research: Interviewing local hunting enthusiasts and a hunting guide (Josh) to uncover concerns and questions potential customers might have.
  • Copywriting: Conducting interviews and crafting aspirational, conversion-focused copy for the website, written by Carren.
  • Design: Creating a visually stunning prototype using aspirational imagery and professional photography provided by the client.
  • Build: Delivering a fully optimised website within one month, designed for ease of use and to captivate the overseas North American hunting market.

The client was thrilled with their new brand and website, which was delivered on time and exceeded their expectations.
